The building, the dining room, the private room, and a long run of plates that have come off this pass over the years.

Outside

The building on Thomasville Road

Small sign, low building, and a paint job that tells you more about the place than the architecture does.

The front of Kool Beanz Cafe: a low red building with turquoise panels and a large hand-painted sign.

Plates over the years

None of these are on tonight. They are here to show the hand behind the cooking.

Gallery questions

Are these dishes on the menu now?

Almost certainly not. The menu is rewritten daily, so these are a record of what has come out of this kitchen rather than a list to order from. Today’s menu is on Facebook.

Can I take photos in the restaurant?

Please do. Plenty of people photograph the food, the art and the sign out front. If you post them, tag us — we like seeing them.

Is the art in these photos for sale?

Yes. The work on our walls is by local artists and it can be bought. More about the art programme.

See it in person

The photographs do not capture the noise, which is most of the point.
